La Française beach in Fort de France is within walking distance, Batelière beach, 10 minutes away by car and Anse Mitan beach, 20 minutes away by water cab are the nearest beaches to the port.
Must-see sites in Fort de France include Cathédrale Saint Louis, Bibliothèque Schoelcher, the local covered market, Fort St Louis and Théâtre Aimé Césaire.
The best way to get to the beach from the port is to take private cabs to all the island's beaches, take the bus towards Schoelcher, or take a water shuttle to Trois-Ilets.
