SAINTE MARIE ISLET
A former harbour, situated opposite the village, it is connected to the beach by a curious strip of sand known as the Tombolo.
THE TOMBOLO: A NATURAL CURIOSITY
The Tombolo is a sandbar connecting the Îlet Sainte Marie to the mainland. A natural maritime phenomenon caused by the action of swells, tides and sea currents, it appears every year during the dry season known as Carême (roughly from January to April). When the sandbar is dry, it is possible to reach the islet on foot. A marked hiking trail allows you to climb its two peaks and, with the help of a map, discover magnificent panoramic views.
N.B.: SWIMMING IS DANGEROUS AND UNSUPERVISED
