6th edition of the Martinique Children's Book Festival From June 22 to 27, 2026 The Martinique Children's Book Festival returns for its 6th edition under the banner of Nos petits et grands heros . Through this theme, the festival invites young and old alike to explore the many heroistic figures that populate children's literature, folk tales and our collective imagination. Everyday heroes, fictional characters, historical or legendary figures: these are all models that inspire, question and nourish the dreams of young readers. This edition also offers an opportunity to take a fresh look at our cultural heritage and traditional bestiary. The tales and legends of the West Indies are full of emblematic characters whose adventures continue to transmit values, knowledge and a singular vision of the world. Among them is Compe Lapin, a key figure in Creole oral tradition, whose cunning and intelligence transcend generations, as well as all the creatures, animals and characters that make up the richness of the Caribbean imagination. By inviting the public to rediscover these heroes from here and elsewhere, the festival helps to promote children's literature as a space for transmission, reflection and creation, where heritage, memory and modernity meet. The Mediatheque du Saint-Esprit has been a loyal partner of this cultural adventure since the first edition, and is delighted to continue its commitment to the **Association La Baie**, initiator and coordinator of the festival, in order to promote reading, access to books and the discovery of imaginary worlds among all publics. We look forward to seeing you from June 22 to 27, 2026, to celebrate books, stories and those who bring them to life.
