Would you like to do something for the planet?

Early in the morning, the light gently caresses the calm waters, birds awaken and the roots of the mangrove trees reflect on the surface. The mangroves of Martinique are a world apart, where time seems to slow down and every gesture counts. Here, we let ourselves be guided by the discreet sound of the water, observe the fauna and learn to respect a fragile but fascinating ecosystem.
Discovering the mangrove is not just about admiring a landscape: it's about understanding the vital role it plays for the island, immersing yourself in biodiversity and experiencing a rare moment of nature, accessible to all. Whether you choose the leisurely stroll on foot, the kayak or a guided outing, every experience turns into a lesson in the balance of coastal life.

Martinique's mangroves: an ecosystem to be preserved

The mangrove is a unique coastal ecosystem, made up of red, black and white mangroves that grow where freshwater meets the sea. Their aerial roots stabilize the shoreline and create a habitat for abundant wildlife:fish, crabs, shrimp and a multitude of birds, from fiddler crabs to herons.
It plays an indispensable ecological role: protecting coasts, filtering water, nurturing biodiversity and supporting certain traditional human activities such as fishing or shellfish harvesting. To observe this aquatic forest is to understand why every gesture counts towards its preservation, and why it's essential to keep the site intact for future generations.

Baie de Génipa (Trois-Îlets / Rivière-Salée)

Étang des Salines (Sainte-Anne)

Near the southern beaches, the Étang des Salines offers a different approach: mangrove observation from coastal paths, combined with discovery of the marine environment and birds.

Other sites to visit

La Baie du Robert, the Baie du François, le Diamant or Le Marin also offer guided excursions or kayak/paddle trips, suitable for families and groups. Each site allows you to discover the mangrove in a responsible and safe way.
