Concrete actions

At the four corners of the island, daring initiatives are flourishing to ensure that diving pleasure rhymes with minimal impact.

In Martinique, the industry is dreaming up concrete solutions to reduce its footprint, like the electrosolar boats that are making their appearance on our coasts. In Saint-Pierre with Diaj or in Anses-d'Arlet with Canopée Bleue, the experience changes: navigation becomes silent, with no exhaust odors or vibrations, allowing an approach to dive sites in total respect for the tranquility of marine fauna.

But innovation doesn't stop at the surface: coral-safe equipment, educational underwater trailsto learn while marvelling, or innovative digital tools to enhance our heritage... Everything is designed to ensure that technology serves the protection of our blue sanctuary and enables us to move forward serenely towards sustainable tourism.

Innovation and the future

Our players are committed and readjust their practices to share their passion while educating for the preservation of Martinique's seabed.

  • A active awareness from the very first exchanges with educational workshops on the roles of reefs and seagrass beds and systematic "ecogestures" briefings before each outing: don't touch the fauna and flora, avoid harmful creams and products, recognize and respect fragile areas.
  • A limitation of groups to reduce impact,
  • Modules on the protection of ecosystems integrated into the training curricula of diving instructors and professionals, organization of "diving and environment" days and participation in participatory science.
  • Systems for direct protection: installation of ecological anchorages to avoid destructive anchoring on reefs, bottom cleaning operations, monitoring of emblematic species.
  • Better management of areas: supervised outings within the AGOA sanctuary, cooperation with the Parc Naturel Marin to regulate frequentation of sensitive areas.

The Albert FALCO Marine Protected Area opens its doors

In Martinique, the heart of marine conservation is concentrated at Nord de l'île. It's there, at the foot of the majestic Montagne Pelée, in the commune of Prêcheur, where the very first marine reserve was born in 2014.

More than a 598-hectare regulated area, the Aire Marine Protégée (AMP) Albert Falco is a vibrant tribute to the former Calypso captain and Cousteau companion, who was one of the first to fall in love with the richness of Martinique's seabed.

The Albert Falco MPA illustrates Martinique's strategy of reconciling protection and ecotourism: supervised diving and snorkeling, bird and marine mammal watching, ecological anchorages and strict regulations to preserve biodiversity.

An invitation to responsible wonder

When you dive here, you enter a sanctuary where nature dictates its rules to better reveal itself to you. With over 12 km of coastline, the reserve encompasses some legendary sites:

  • L'îlet La Perle and its vertiginous drop-offs where the great open-sea species cross paths (marlins, barracudas...).
  • La Citadelle, a must-see spot to admire Acropora palmata corals and ballets of eagle rays.
  • The herbaria of the Couleuvre coves or Céron, veritable nurseries where sea turtles come to feed in complete serenity.

A model of sustainable sharing

The Albert FALCO MPA is a model of sustainable ecotourism: it protects exceptional marine ecosystems while offering respectful activities (supervised diving, observation, awareness-raising).

Its management by the Parc Naturel Marin de Martinique and its strict rules guarantee the preservation of resources and the enhancement of natural heritage for future generations.
