Would you like to do something for the planet?

After two months of excitement - crowded beaches, open-air concerts, sports competitions and children's laughter - September marks a pause. A return to oneself. A new tempo. In Martinique, this special month is often one of rediscovered calm, unexpected encounters and gentler explorations. As the high season draws to a close, the island continues to vibrate... at its own pace. So how about letting yourself be carried away by this more intimate Martinique? Follow us on a sensitive journey, far from the hustle and bustle, with eyes wide open and a light heart.

What's the weather like in Martinique in September?

Gentle, complicit weather

Between 26 and 30°C, a few welcome tropical showers, and a more breathable atmosphere. Perfect for alternating sea bathing, siestas in the shade and morning hikes. All you need to do is keep an eye on the weather, plan carefully, and let daylight be your guide.

What to do in Martinique in September?

Beaches (almost) for yourself

Imagine: a deserted cove at sunrise, an oily sea, pelicans diving... Welcome to Anse Dufour, l'Anse Noire, the Anse Couleuvre or the Salines, September versions. No more touch-and-go towels. Here, silence is king and every swim becomes a meditation. Our favorite times: early morning to catch the first rays, or late afternoon when the sky merges with the sea.

Mindful hiking
Martinique abounds with trails, but in September, we rediscover them in a different way:

Humidity makes the vegetation greener, the waterfalls more generous, and the forest more sonorous. A word of advice? Favour milder days, and equip yourself with non-slip shoes: here, every step is an immersion.

Well-being in nature... or at home

September is also the time to take care of yourself. Massages, treatments with local oils...the island is full of confidential addresses where you can really recharge your batteries in the heart of nature. And if you prefer to stay in your own cocoon, some institutes offer massages at home, by the pool or on the terrace. Simple luxury, suspended moments.

Which restaurants to discover in Martinique in September?

Eat local, stress-free and queue-free
Far from the hustle and bustle of the summer vacations, tables are freed up and chefs take their time. It's a chance to rediscover Creole flavours in complete tranquillity.
We've fallen for:

  • Tèt Dwet, this itinerant concept that blends tradition and modern cuisine to be tasted... with your fingers.
  • A simple lunch on the beach, between accras and fresh fruit.
  • Or a visit to the market in Le Marin, Saint-Pierre or Fort-de-France to cook local produce yourself.

Cultural activities to do in Martinique in September

(Re)discover culture, in peace and quiet

Museums and heritage sites regain their serenity. We take our time, ask questions, listen to the stories of a passionate guide...
In September, culture is experienced at human level, in an atmosphere conducive to reflection and transmission.

European Heritage Days in September

Heritage Days: exploring the invisible (September 19-20-21)

Every year, places that are usually closed open their doors to the public. Archives, hidden gardens, old houses, symbolic buildings...These three days are a unique window on the island's history and memory. To be experienced alone, with family or friends. Because Martinique's culture deserves to be experienced from the inside.

September: Martinique in its most authentic version and rediscover the island as never before.
