Would you like to do something for the planet?

Let me guess, you're looking for the best time to come to Martinique? You've come to the right place! I've been lucky enough to discover the island at several different times of the year, and I've kept a few notes for myself about the highlights of each month: the highly prized month of April, the happiness of the month of may, the unique atmosphere of the month of August, the sweetness of september....

I'll tell you right now: Martinique at the end of the year is THE good idea.So how about November?

To give you a quick introduction, November marks the transition between the wet season (called hivernage) and the dry season (Lent) in Martinique. In other words, it's a somewhat magical time when Martinique slowly regains its calm after the rainy season, with incredible scenery and already very pleasant weather. It's also an excellent time to find lower prices on flights and accommodation. Already convincing, isn't it?

Come on, I'll take you away! On the program, everything you need to know (and what you'll love) about Martinique in November. Here we go!

What's the weather like in Martinique in November?

A tropical climate in transition

The weather in Martinique in November isreally ideal for those seeking warmth and a change of scenery without suffering from the overly heavy climate of full Lent.

A brief summary of the usual weather conditions this November:

  • Average temperatures: between 24°C at night and 30°C during the day, with a maximum temperature around 31°C. Minimum temperatures remain pleasant, perfect for outdoor evenings. What more could you ask for?
  • Precipitation: November marks the end of the heavy winter rains, but there may still be a few tropical showers, especially at the beginning of the month. But rest assured, it's thanks to these often brief showers that November's vegetation remains so verdant.
  • Cloud cover: clouds sometimes overhang Montagne Pelée or the Caravelle peninsula. But let's look on the bright side, I find they add a little mysterious touch to the landscapes.
  • Sea temperature around 28°C, perfect for swimming and trying your hand at water sports and activities.

My little tip

If you come to Martinique during All Saints' Day, be aware that it's a sacred holiday here. Martinican families deck their graves with beautiful flowers and candles, and cemeteries, which are open to the public, are embellished during this singular period.

What to do in Martinique in November?

The great thing about November in Martinique is that whatever your profile as a traveler or adventurer, you have the chance to try everything! Nature lovers like me, culture buffs or relaxation enthusiasts, it's a perfect time to discover the mythical places Martinique has to offer in a quieter atmosphere than in high season. That's why it's personally one of my favorite months!

Set your sights on beaches and marine discoveries

In November, Martinique's beaches (and their little inhabitants), still benefit from the ideal quietness of the low season while finally enjoying the return of the sun almost all day long. Personally, I love taking advantage of this to explore spots I've never been to before, and discover the island from another angle!

  • I really like Ilet Madame (in the Baie du Robert): it's a deserted islet, a real little piece of paradise! You'll see, it's accessible by boat and offers shallow waters perfect for swimming and ideal areas for snorkeling.
  • The Anse Couleuvre, of course (Le Prêcheur): to all the adventurers out there, you'll love this little cove of wild black sand fringed by rainforest. For me, it's perfect for a real moment of total immersion in nature. What's more, the November rains make the surrounding vegetation particularly dense and spectacular, you'll see!
  • And for everyone: Sainte-Anne and its beaches! You know, the Salines, The Pointe Marin, Anse Michel, Anse Trabaud, Anse Caritan or Anse Meunier… There's something for everyone, believe me. For a leisurely swim, take a trip to Pointe Marin beach, stroll under the coconut palms at Les Salines, and if you're a thrill-seeking rider, head for Cap Chevalier (good kite-surfing spot).

PS, and you'll love it

November marks the start of the egg-laying season for certain species of sea turtle. On secluded beaches like Anse Noire, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of these incredible animals in their natural habitat. But remember, we don't disturb them under any circumstances, and we keep several meters away from them!

Try your hand at hiking and go on a tropical nature getaway

November marks the (almost) end of the rainy season and the imminent arrival of Lent. Which means that if the weather isn't too wet and it hasn't rained too much, you're back on the hiking trail in Martinique! The island abounds with hiking trails suitable for all levels, and if you're an amateur, you'll love it, I'm sure!"

My only advice, November being generally still a little rainy, prefer coastal sea-view trails rather than more sunken hikes and known to get muddy fast if there's been rain a few days before.

  • I'm thinking of the Trace des Caps (South Atlantic): it's the longest hike in Martinique, 34 kilometers! I recommend thecoastal trail that runs from the market town of Sainte-Luce to Trois-Rivières and the big loop of the Caravelle peninsula. These are sandier trails, so they're more practical and accessible in November!
  • Hike to Piton Crève-Cœur (in Sainte-Anne): a rather accessible trail promises panoramic views of the island's southern landscapes. On the program: golden savannahs and sugarcane fields - not so good, is it? This hike is located in one of the driest parts of Martinique, so for me, it can be attempted almost all year round!
  • La Savane des Pétrifications and Anse Trabaud, over 7km in an impressive seaside setting. It's one of the driest places in Martinique so you'll have dry feet, and if it ever gets too hot, a little swim surely won't go amiss! I really like this one.

A little unusual idea

In November, why not take a night out with a guide to observe fireflies in the mangrove? A magical experience, especially for families. I took my nephews and they loved it. Here, we call fireflies "bèt à fé" in Creole.

Rendez-vous in the water: on the program, diving, sea outings and water sports

In November, the calm ocean offers ideal conditions for discovering Martinique's marine riches.

The heavy rains of the season? Yes, they can sometimes make the water a little murky and reduce underwater visibility. But frankly, it never lasts long! After a downpour, which usually lasts barely 10 minutes, everything quickly clears up, and then... wow, it's like the sea comes alive before your very eyes.

And honestly, there's something magical about these regular downpours. With fewer fishermen and tourists on the water, the beaches are deserted (bliss!), and the marine ecosystem seems to reveal itself like never before. Breaks in the wind transform the sea into a perfect mirror, a true tableau where sky and water merge. Imagine gliding gently over this sea of oil... It's almost like flying! And the icing on the cake: it's the perfect time to watch dolphins and other marine wonders rise to the surface. Thrills guaranteed.

And if you love diving, get ready for a bluffing experience. Underwater, the spectacle is unique: as you look up, you'll see fish and... Birds above you, as if in a daydream. Try this near Rocher du Diamant, the mythical site that also houses a bird sanctuary. Seriously, between the ballet of the fish, the birds dancing in the sky and that very special atmosphere, it's the kind of moment when you say to yourself, "Where the hell have I been until now?"

  • For scuba diving: sites near Saint-Pierre or theRocher du Diamant are must-sees. In November, the sea is calm and visibility is excellent.
  • For boat trips: explore the islets of the François and the Robert, or take a day trip around the Caravelle peninsula. You might even come across some dolphins along the way, believe me!
  • Kayaking in the mangrove of Génipa: a peaceful and educational activity idea, ideal for observing the unique biodiversity of this ecosystem.

Allow yourself moments of relaxation and well-being

If you need a breather and are looking for a calmer vacation, Martinique in November is an ideal choice. Come on, close your eyes and listen to me, we're slowing down and taking care of you:

  • A reflexology session in the water: imagine your feet in the warm water of a river or floating in the sea while a specialist massages your feet. It's original, 100% local, and... So relaxing!
  • Acosmetics or essential oils workshop: learn how to make your own products with Martinique ingredients like coconut or cocoa. A DIY souvenir to proudly take home!
  • Idea chic and zen, the tropical flower bath: treat yourself to a total immersion in a bath decorated with petals of local flowers (jasmine, tiare, vanilla). Because why not feel like a star for just a moment?
  • Les sources thermales de Céron (Le Prêcheur) : hot baths in the heart of nature, perfect for relaxing after a hike.
  • Yoga by the sea : classes are organized on beaches like Pointe Marin or Gros Raisin, I recommend them!

Dive into local culture and traditions

You'll see, the culture martiniquaise is incredible. In Martinique, everything is an excuse to sing, to dance, to celebrate the traditions and joys of everyday life. So don't hesitate for a minute, November is a great time to make memories for life!"

November is a month rich in cultural and sporting events in Martinique (I've added a few must-see visits for you):

  • La Toussaint: a unique celebration where cemeteries are lit up with thousands of candles. It's a powerful and moving moment to understand the importance of tradition in Martinican culture. My eyes are still full of stars.
  • The Transat Jacques Vabre (every two years): this mythical sailing race sometimes arrives in Martinique in November, attracting a festive atmosphere to Fort-de-France. In-cro-yable.
  • The distilleries : really take advantage of the low season to visit iconic distilleries like Clément or Saint-James. In November, they're often less crowded, so you can take full advantage of the tastings. It would be a real shame to miss out on rum in Martinique!

Some practical tips for your stay in November

My little tips, as usual:

  • Initiate bookings: November remains a popular period thanks to its attractive prices and pleasant weather conditions. I recommend it!
  • Pack a versatile suitcase: light clothes for the day, but also a raincoat or umbrella for tropical showers.
  • Rent a car in Martinique: essential for exploring remote corners like the market town of Sainte-Marie or the beaches of the Caravelle peninsula. It's so much more practical, you'll thank me!"
  • Protect yourself from mosquitoes: bring a repellent, especially for outdoor evenings. A must, believe me!

Why choose Martinique in November?

In short, Martinique in November means:

  • A tropical climate with pleasantly warm temperatures, and less rainfall.
  • 1001 varied activities, from scuba diving to hiking... In lush, lively, unspoilt nature.
  • An immersion in the local culture, with unique events like All Saints' Day.
