• The Caravelle Peninsula: This is the perfect time to explore this nature reserve. Hiking beneath the mangrove canopy is a unique experience I could do over and over again—it’s unlike anything else!

Do you love green? In June, you’re in for a treat! Thanks to the steady temperatures and tropical humidity—I’ll say it again—the “Island of Flowers” truly lives up to its name.

• Mount Pelée: In June, the volcano is draped in a deep emerald green. My advice: try hiking up very early in the morning. Even if the clouds are playing hide-and-seek, the mystical atmosphere of the cloud forest is incredible.
• The tropical gardens: It’s peak blooming season for many exotic species. The contrast between the red of the balisiers and the blue of the sea is just… wow.
• The Hiking Festival: June is also the perfect month to lace up your sneakers, as the island hosts its famous hiking festival! The trails change every year to get the whole island moving: you can venture deep into the rainforest near Morne-Rouge or Fond-Saint-Denis, or hike along the beaches of Sainte-Anne or Le Vauclin. • The smell of the earth after the rain: you’re bound to notice this enchanting scent—like an indelible Proustian madeleine. It’s even more unique in Martinique in June! Right after a light tropical shower, the earth bursts with incredible woody and floral scents. It’s an experience you won’t find at any other time of year.
